Heyyyyy yes I’m glad to see you here today 😁. Thanks for voting on the poll last week, majority of you voted that I continue to send this email on Sundays, so it’s staying that way.
How have you been? My week was exhausting. I feel like I’m beginning to sound like a broken record with the same story of exhaustion each week. Lol, I’m sorry. Being very tired made me remember that one of my goals for 2023 is to have a pamper day each quarter, i.e. once every three months. I had forgotten about it, but I have now opened up a savings pot titled “Pamper Day” to start putting money towards my first self-care day at the end of March. I deserve it.
👩🏽💻 What I worked on this week
This week went by fasssst! 😮💨 I had to travel to Birmingham on short notice to source event venues for an upcoming event I'm planning. I also had to go to London for an executive meeting with some partners. And all these movements took its toll on my body - I struggled to sleep in Birmingham and the day after, which made me have a nagging headache and experience intense fatigue.
Apart from the trips, I also had to conduct interviews, write and send a technical assessment, have team meetings, and create a budget. So I looked forward to the weekend and I’m happy I spent yesterday doing nothing. It felt soooo good!
🤔 What’s on my mind
I want to feel better, look better and do better. I’ve been experiencing what I’ll call a depletion of willpower - being unmotivated to discipline myself to workout, eat healthily, go to bed early etc. And I realise that at the end of the day, my life will be a product of my moment-to-moment choices. Saying I have a depletion of willpower is just an excuse; what I’m doing is making a choice. I am choosing not to do better for myself and need to take responsibility for it. I alone am responsible for what I do or don’t do. Excuses will always abound. So, I want to kickstart myself to make small changes daily. Here are a few things I’m starting tomorrow:
Being in bed by 10 PM, I can’t say sleep by 10 PM because that would be unrealistic, but being in bed isn’t
Reinforcing my no-phone-in-bed rule. I tried this sometime last year and noticed that my sleep improved, but old habits are hard to break, yes? I went back to watching Tiktok videos late into the night but not anymore.
Read a book in bed - This was one of the hacks that made me read many books last year, but this year has been a struggle for some reason. So I’m bringing this rule back.
Doing a 10 minutes workout at least twice a week. Once again, I was consistent with this until December last year, but in 2023, I struggled to show up.
Eating healthier. In case you’re new here, I lost over 10KG last year and have done a great job at maintaining my weight until now. I struggle to eat right; been eating anything and anyhow. I have gained 3KG back, which I’m not thrilled about, so I’m choosing to go back to being disciplined.
📈 Productivity corner
Am I the only one who likes to ease into their day? I don’t like to start my mornings with a meeting or emails. Instead, I like to do some focused work around this time. A simple way I’m creating this space for myself is to block out 30 minutes on my calendar every morning. This way, I spend the first 30 minutes of my work time doing what I deem to be the most important task of the day before anything else.
Another productivity tip I use is to list all my tasks and pick the top three I will focus on the next day. I call these my 3 MVPs - Most Vital Priorities. It’s a strategy I learnt from Darren Hardy, the author of the book I’m currently reading.

✍🏽 Quote of the week
That would be all for now, until same time next week, please drink lots of water and wear sunscreen, I beg you.

You have good goals! They will obviously improve your life, I also need to write a couple for myself and follow them.
