Okay, so where do we start today? First of all, my stomach is full. I just had a very satisfying meal of okra soup and eba 😌. Also, since we’re getting to know each other better, this is a good place to let you know that swallow is one of my favourite foods. And if you are non-Nigerian, swallow refers to foods you mould into a ball and eat with soup. And by swallow, I mean any type at all - from fufu to eba to tuwo to semo to amala. LOL, yes, I’m a true Nigerian like that 😁.
The second update is that I’ve been sleeping with the fan for the past few days. Is night sweats one of the many symptoms of getting older?🤔 I genuinely want to know. On several occasions, I have woken up in the night to see my shirt drenched in sweat and have had to change it into another one. In an attempt to reduce my night sweats, on most days we sleep with the fan on and, yes, in winter o! I don’t know what’s going on with my body, but I’m not amused 😑.
👩🏽💻 What I worked on this week
This week I put on an event planner hat. My boss delegated the planning for an end-of-year event to me. This week, I made calls to vendors and visited event venues to find the right fit. Also, I did a lot of people management. I had to train, onboard and manage some new hires this week. And in case you’re wondering what my job is, I’m a Growth Manager at a Fintech company. Now you know 🌝.
I was supposed to go to the gym at least twice this week, but winter wouldn’t let me 😭. Here’s the thing, I struggle in winter - from lacking the motivation to do anything to dreading going outside. Also, let’s not forget that at 5 PM, it literally looks and feels like 9 PM. This has weakened my discipline. I also had an event to attend this week, but at the last minute, I decided I wasn’t going anymore because it was too dark and too cold outside. Animals that hibernate during winter are way ahead of us.
💡What I’m learning
I started reading one of the books on my list for November - An American marriage. It’s a book that spotlights the wrongful imprisonment of a black man and how this miscarriage of justice affects his marriage and life. So far, I’m enjoying the book and would likely do a light-hearted review of it later.
I finally edited a video that’s been sitting on my laptop for some weeks, where I share important money lessons that I learned from the bestselling book “The Psychology Of Money”. The book contains 20 lessons, but not all of them resonated with me. In the video, I share the 6 lessons that have transformed my financial life and left an imprint in my mind. 🤔 What’s on my mind
How do you know when it’s time to break a habit? I have disciplined myself to post at least one video a week over the years. This consistency was at its peak in 2020 when I did not miss a single week of upload. However, in the subsequent years, I missed a few weeks. But what I’m trying to highlight here is that on weekends when I don’t post a video, it feels like something is missing. I am so used to editing videos on Saturday evenings that it feels strange when I’m not doing that. I’m at a point where I’m asking myself if consistency should remain my main goal or the quality of my content.
Here’s what I mean, should I continue putting out one video weekly regardless of how “good” the content is or do I reduce the number of times I upload and only ensure I put out “great” content? I want to believe I have gone past the stage where consistency was the goal. When starting anything, it’s very important to be consistent with it to build a habit out of it. But at this point, I think my focus should be more on WHAT rather than showing up for the sake of habit. I hope this makes sense, do let me know what you think.
🤔 New challenge
I started a 7-day diet plan today. Yay! Lol, I don’t know why I’m excited. But if you’re wondering why I’m dieting, well, it’s because I’m yet to hit my target weight loss goal. As I mentioned in my previous dispatch, I lost over 10KG ( from 75.8kg to 65.2kg) after realising I was “obese” (*insert eye roll*) for my weight and height. After losing 10KG, my motivation to continue losing weight dwindled, and all I could focus on was maintaining it. I am 65.5kg, which means I have done an amazing job maintaining my weight, but I think I could use a little challenge. My ideal goal weight is anything below 65kg. And I’m optimistic that I should lose at least one kilogram on this diet plan, assuming I stick to it completely 🌝. Anyway, I should share an update by Sunday next week. Pray for me.

Spending money to show people how much money you have is the fastest way to have less money. - Morgan Housel
That would be all for today. Thanks again for reading, replying and even sending me thoughtful emails. I always read them!
Till next week; you know how we say it here:
Drink lots of water and stay hydrated! 😂
Hi Chidera, thank you so much for this. You really do motivate me a lot. Just to let you know you’re doing a great job. Cheers
Yep! Definitely the later Chidera - put out “great” content.
