I just finished creating a plan for my meal times. Setting out specific times to eat with hopes of sticking to it. The idea is to manage my blood sugar levels by doing this.
Remember my previous email where I said I wanted to pay for a fertility and hormone test? Well, someone reached out to me to help cover the cost. Would you look at God? Part of redeeming the gift was participating in a survey about reproductive and period health. We had the conversation yesterday, and I learned much from it. Here are some key takeaways:
Did you know that PCOS is linked to your blood sugar levels? PCOS predisposes you to insulin resistance, which means your insulin (the hormone that regulates sugar/glucose) doesn't work as it should.
I also got an insight into why my endocrine system (the system that controls your hormones) changed after arriving in the UK. A massive player to that was my diet. From the conversation yesterday, I realised that I now consume many processed foods and sugars, which starkly contrasts with my diet in Nigeria.
I realised that one of the reasons I never looked into managing this PCOS condition was because the Doctors had told me that it was incurable and there was nothing I could do about it🤷🏽♀️. But gradually, I am learning that I can make specific lifestyle changes that have tremendous effects in alleviating this condition. I will share these changes with you in subsequent emails.

On the other hand, work this week was slow. I eased back into workflow after returning from my vacation in Marrakech, Morocco and truth but told, I want to go back «== Marrakech was a dream - it was perfect, and I was well rested.

🤔 What's on my mind
I felt like my birthday this year was loud 😅. I got a truckload of messages, social posts, calls and even gifts. It made me wonder what changed between my birthday last year and this year. My birthday last year was pretty quiet. It is not like the "loudness" is bad; on the contrary, it made me feel loved. But I've just been wondering what made this year's celebration different that almost everyone I knew sent me a message 🤔.
The other thing on my mind is that I'm tired of weight gain and loss. I'm tired of gaining weight by just breathing😮💨. I'm tired of gaining weight by merely existing. I know science says metabolism slows down as you age, but mine seems to be slower than a snail now 😭. I don't know how else to put this, but I AM EXHAUSTED. And yes, I'm shouting. It's tiring - I keep doing the right thing, but my body wouldn't cooperate. I've gained significant weight, and I don't want to return to where I started my weight loss journey last year, which was 75.78KG. I know that the fact that I have PCOS also makes weight gain easy and weight loss harder.
I can't believe I'm still changing my lifestyle. I can't believe that I haven't found a rhythm that works. I can't believe that this - this is my life now.
