Did you miss me last week? 👀 I took a little breather (sometimes life just happens 😅).
Then this week rolled around… and I almost didn’t show up today — not because I was overwhelmed, but because I felt like I had nothing valuable to say.
But here’s what I’m learning: consistency isn’t about showing up every time — it’s about coming back.
It’s not a straight line. There are highs, lows, missed weeks, and wobbly efforts.
What matters is that you return. You try again. You recommit.
That’s what this email is — a small act of consistency.
And in choosing to show up, I figured: why not share the one thing that’s been sitting on my chest all week? 🙃
💸 Money Corner: One Thing Men Will Have Is Audacity
Let me tell you a quick story.
The other day, I was preparing to send a rate card to a brand that wanted a dedicated YouTube video from me. Now, this wasn’t a simple one — it was a proper, in-depth video that would take hours of planning, scripting, filming, editing… the whole thing.
As I was about to send my rate, my husband looked at it and said, “You should charge more.”
I blinked. “Really?”
He nodded. “Yes, this is a lot of work. You need to charge in proportion to the effort it’ll take.”
After a bit of back and forth, I added a 30% increase to my initial rate — still with shaky hands. I thought they’d push back immediately 😮💨.
But guess what?
The brand was fine with it (colour me shocked! 😭). We negotiated a little and settled on a price that was still 25% higher than what I originally planned to ask!
Here’s the thing: many women, especially Black women, are conditioned to be “grateful” for opportunities instead of confident in our value.
We play it safe. We undercharge. We say yes too quickly.
So here’s your reminder:
Ask for the raise.
Increase your rate.
Push back on unrealistic timelines.
Speak up when something feels off.
You’re not being difficult. You’re being clear.
And clear is better than being underpaid, overlooked, or burned out.
🎥 New video this week
How to Pay Off Your Mortgage Early On An Average UK Salary
No six-figure salary? No inheritance? No problem.
In this video, I break down practical overpayment strategies that can help UK homeowners pay off their mortgage faster and save thousands, even on a modest income.
So yeah… this might not be the most profound Dispatch I’ve ever written. But it’s proof that sometimes, showing up with something is better than waiting until you have the perfect thing.
May we all have the audacity to ask for more — and the consistency to keep going, even when we’re not sure it’s “enough.”
Catch you next week ✨,
XOXO
